my services

Below you can find a list of the most popular services I offer for events. In addition to this, I can offer tailored packages that allow you to decide what sort of services you would love to have. You can mix and match the services below, or if you had something totally different in mind let me know!

Canvas Painting

Guest Portraits

Commissions

For canvas painting service, I will arrive before your guests to set up with plenty of time before their arrival. I will begin painting a pre-discussed scene that you have hand-picked for your painting, and guests will have a chance throughout the day to come over and watch while I work. I will also take some reference photos so I will be able to include all the details as I paint through the evening. Typically these paintings will take around 8 hours and will be ready for you to take home on the night! On the rare occasion the painting is not finished on the night, I will complete it in my studio and have it packaged and sent out to you within a week.

Prices from £800

With guest portraits, I will be painting bespoke watercolour portraits of your guests throughout your day.  This service is charged on a time-basis starting from 4 hours, and you will have the ability to choose at what point in your day you would like to have these painting on offer to your guests. Guests can pose alone, as a couple or in groups for their painting. Pictures will be taken of guests at the start of the day so they can get back to the mingling, and I will paint throughout the day. A special larger picture of the couple is included! Guests will then receive their personalised painting as a keepsake from your day!

Prices from £600

Commissions are a great option if you have already had your big day, but you would love to have it immortalised on canvas! Or equally if I do not have your date available, or you’re planning a small intimate day but would like a keepsake afterwards, this is a great option for you. For this you will need to send along the scene you want painted from the day, preferably a photo shot by your photographer, and I will recreate this scene as a painting. There are no size or complexity limitations with this option, as I will be completing the piece in my studio and can accommodate any requests from you!

Prices from £500

Info

What kind of events can you appear at?

I offer my services for any and all events, including weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, corporate events or charity balls. As I have the option to finish the piece in my studio, I am able to accommodate shorter events, but this is often subject to distance.

Why choose a live painter?

Live event painting is a relatively new concept, so it will bring a unique aspect to whatever event you are planning. It is a wonderful surprise for the guests, and I find they often comment on how different it is! Especially the watercolour guest paintings, as it allows them to take home a meaningful keepsake. Regardless of the service being provided, I will be situated in the open where guests can come and watch as I work, so it can be an excellent source of entertainment.

What materials do you use?

For scene paintings I use acrylic paints on canvas. These are fast drying paints with excellent pigmentation and versatility. They are great for adding defined detail to a piece. The piece is then finished with a clear varnish to protect it from being damaged, and prevents the colours from being sun bleached.  For guest illustrations I use watercolour paints on high quality watercolour paper. These are good for quick illustrations and often give pieces a sketchy style. Due to the nature and size of these drawings, I feel they always look best faceless and still represent a good likeness of the model.

Will my painting be one of a kind?

Each piece I create will be one of a kind, as no other wedding will be exactly like yours. They will however be in a similar style to other pieces in my portfolio. During our initial talks, I will determine what scene you would like depicted. I will also ask if there are any people you would like to appear in the piece, so I can ensure all elements of the painting you imagine can are present! The most commonly chosen scenes are wedding ceremonies, first dances and top tables. When choosing a scene, it is important to consider several things. Which scene do you think will be most important to you? How many people do you want present, as this will affect how big the painting will need to be?

How do I book my event with you?

You can contact my through the ‘contact us’ page of my website. Alternatively, you ca email me at hello@maclanan.co.uk with any enquiries you have. Once I have received your initial query, I first conform whether not I am available on the day of your event. If yes, I will send over some more information about my services. I will also ask some questions about your event and what sort of service you would be looking for, so I can more accurately provide you a quote. If you are happy to go ahead from here, I will schedule a phone consultation with you in order to get all the details of your day, and how your artwork will look. I will then send over a contract for you to sign, and a 20% deposit is required to secure your booking.

How far can you travel for an event?

The real answer to this is, however far I need to! I am willing to travel UK and worldwide for events, but depending on where exactly your event is being held, there will be a travel charge added to your quote. My standard quotes include travel to any venue within 75 miles of my studio in Glasgow. For travel further than this, I will quote on a case to case basis, and will also depend on whether I will require an overnight stay.

“Brooklyn came to our wedding at Balbirnie and painted a scene from our ceremony. The attention to detail is amazing! Our guests continued to check her progress throughout the day and loved the finished piece of art as much as we did. I can’t thank Brooklyn enough for such a sentimental piece of art which will take pride of place at home"
